Response To The Film Hotel Rwanda

There is a famous film list calls 100 global must-see films. Hotel Rwanda takes a place in it. There is no doubt that it has the incomparable artistic value and the historical significance. Difference war films have different characters and purposes. Hotel Rwanda shows to people that wars sometimes can reflect the complicated society combine the violence and humanity. In the other words, this film reveals the cruel tribal warfare and praises the kind humanity at the same time. Among all the characters in this film, violence plays an important role in the whole story. It impresses people deeply because it shows the reality of the wars and genocide.

In this film, contradictions between Hutu and Tutsi tribes became more and more, fear hung over the whole city. The air crash happened in Rwanda caused the mistrust between Hutu and Tutsi tribes, so an unprecedented scale armed conflict broke out, what’s more, happened with genocide. That means that either tribe wanted to control the other one or rule the society by their tribe, the direct way is violence, just like Fanon said in his book “the well-known steps which characterize an organized society, can only triumph if we use all means to turn the scale, including, of course, that of violence.” (Fanon 35) Violence is the effective manner to conquer dissidents in the wars. Therefore, in many films, people can find the cruel scenes of violence.

It is not difficult to find that violence in genocide is an important aspect of wars when we research the history in our global courses. So it is the common issue of the world not only in the history but also in the current society. World peace faces the acid test of racism, and the awareness of violence should be deterred before everything. World peace is the global theme in the current society.
