Go to College after High School

After high school, many young men face the choices that whether go to college for the higher education in the future. Different students have their views about this question. Some of them think that going to the college is the best way, and they have prepared for the entrance examination of the colleges which they love. On the other hand, many youths express that they don’t think going to college is the unique way for their future, they believe that going to work is another good choice. There is no doubt that every choice has its advantages and weakness. This thesis supports the point that goes to college after high school is a better choice.

It is well-known that college education means more opportunities than the high school degree. “The current world has been changed from a manufacturing-based economy to economy development which bases on knowledge” (John 121). As opposed to the situation of the past, high school graduation today is unable to obtain a good job that was once available. Therefore, the importance of the college education today can be a contrast with the high school education fifty years ago. In the other words, a college education is a gateway to get better opportunities in the future. There is no doubt that the cost of college education is expensive, but it's worth it in every cent. As for job career, a college education is young men’s hedge against serious problems of unemployment. Because the college graduates can do the high difficult work with more complicated knowledge which high school graduates can’t finish. What’s more, it makes a positive impact on young men’s earning potential. It means that the more they learn, the more they get. Therefore, college graduates can earn more money than the high school graduates is becoming more and more realistic.

On the other hand, while the students study in college, they can touch vast knowledge which they have never seen before. One character of a college education is diversity. That means students can satisfy with the knowledge what they need in different fields. A famous educationist said that the college education can supply the course “from basic writing or reading skills to high-level research in the different fields of academic” (Phyllis 97). Many colleges can provide a flexible course setting for the students and meet the different requirement of them. Also, many elective courses are set for students to choose freely. In other words, the student can learn the knowledge that they are interested in. That’s the superiority that high school graduates can’t enjoy. What’s more, young men will benefit from the things that they have learned in their college for their whole lifetime. So it is a precious wealth in their life.

College education also can offer the opportunities for students expand one’s horizon. The students in college can touch the equal level person and talk about the high-level subject together. They can make friends with the gifted and smart contemporary and learn some advantages with others. As we know, in many colleges there are valuable lectures that are made by successful men or famous master. A student can get many useful experience and knowledge from these special lectures. Sometimes young men need the “teachers” to make a clear way and guide for them. All these meaningful things are strange for high school graduates.

Therefore, young men have a lot of opportunities to find the job and go to work in the future. If they go to work directly after high school, they will lose many meaningful things in their life. And when they face the trouble they also don’t know how to solve it because they are young and lack of experience and related knowledge. So young men should pay attention to choose the right way and go to college. Because a college education is a good chance to improve their development and offer more opportunities in the future. The knowledge plays an important role in one’s whole life. A college education means that young men can discover more potential of themselves when they touch the successful master or other excellent schoolmates they can learn more from them. In a way, a college education opens a wide way for youths in their life.
