The first article Katharine Hepburn mainly talks about the career life and personal life of Katharine Hepburn, who was a famous actress in America. She had played many movies and won four times of Oscars. The article deals with the issue of sexism. Hepburn was born in 1907 when feminism movements were sparked in America. Before that period, women and men did not share the equal positions because women were required to conform to many unfair rules. The article states that it was well-known that Hepburn left Hollywood and did not follow the social rules regulated for women. For example, she did not wear skirts but wore trousers, which did not accord with social rules at that time. Hepburn was regarded as a modern woman on the screen. Hepburn behaved quite differently from other women because she had an affair with a co-star, which was regarded as immoral in society at that time. Besides, Hepburn’s assertive and witty personality and intelligence also brought her the image of a modern woman. In other words, Hepburn has changed the traditional view of what women should be like. However, she had a quite bad relationship with the press. Since the press liked to chase behind her to ask private questions, she did not have any good attitudes towards the press. Instead, she always shouted towards the press and refused to do interviews on TV. In this way, she was depicted as a woman with bad styles and was named as Katharine of Arrogance. Therefore, she did not receive a good reputation among the audiences. However, Hepburn was awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom because of her great performances in acting as well as her practical actions in leading women’s rights in the 20s century.

Before that period, homosexuals received lots of discrimination in American society. As it is mentioned above, Milk took many actions to encourage LGBT to strive for their rights. Since Milk made many great achievements in leading LGBT to get equal rights and set up a good example of chasing freedom as a gay, he was awarded the Presenditial Medal of Freedom and one the greatest heroes in America.

Even though many Japanese-Americans are willing to follow what American government said, Fred decided to fight against the racial discrimination. He sued the American to the courtroom. Fed’s case attracted lots of attention, and many Japanese who lived in America opposed what he did. And he won what he deserved during the case. After releasing from the jail, he continued to fight against racial discrimination. For example, he told his boss of the unfair treatments.Fed noticed that Japanese-American suffered lots of inequalities in American society.
