Three Authors’ Opinions on Architecture

The author Louis Sullivan hold the view that the office tower could replace other types of architecture. He appeals the architects to recognize the importance of the design of tall office building. But there are problems. In order to solve these issues, human beings need to follow the natural law. The author tells us that if the construction of buildings is purely according to instinct, the result seems to be sad to express. All the things in the world have a shape. It is a particular form that can make us distinguish them from one another. He strongly insists that people and nature should be harmonious. The artists could acquire inspiration of creation from nature. At the same time, nature could impart more benefits to the human-beings. By doing that, the art could develop in the long run, and more people can have the opportunity to appreciate the various art form.

As the author, Bernard Tschumi tells us in his article---Violence of Architecture that, “There is no architecture without violence” (Bernard 121). He considers that in terms of violence, there is a close relationship between space and action. If the bodies could affect the space, at the same time space could also have an influence on bodies. He also holds the view that architecture should be connected with the events that happened in it.

As the author Richard Hill said in his article, “Architecture is expected to be solid, stable and reassuring – physically, socially and psychologically. Bound to each other, the architectural and the material are considered inseparable” (Richard 2). The author introduces to us a new conception. It is immaterial architecture. He thinks that the user decides whether the architecture is immaterial or not. And he advocates that architecture should include both the immaterial and the material.

All in all, different authors hold different opinions the construction. But all of them aim to propel the development of advanced building construction.

When I read the first author’s article, some things come up to my mind. When it comes to the construction of tall office buildings, I could see a lot of pictures in my eyes. I think of the buildings in the Wall Street. People working in the buildings in that region can embody the inner beauty of those buildings. A lot of people make great contributions to our society. The value of those buildings brings to us is gigantic. Indeed, we could not deny the importance of the tall office buildings. Those buildings are the symbol of the success, wealth, and knowledge.

The opinions that the second author presented make me think of the relationship between the buildings and people. The establishment of the buildings could get all the talents to utilize their energy to make contributions to our society. At the same time, with the development of the science of technology, more and more builders come up with ideas about the construction of more advanced architecture to satisfy people’s needs. They not only pursue the quality of the buildings but also the beauty of the buildings.

As to the opinion of the last author, I would like to say that the construction of buildings is of great importance. The artists should not only consider the beauty of the buildings but also the inner meaning they want to express to the people in the world. The construction of many buildings is the like this. The monuments are built with the aim of the ceremony the heroes who make significant contributions to our society. Those monuments are built not only displays our memory to them but also plays the role of setting a model for the next and next generations.
