Happiness

Happiness

People always eager to happiness and thought about it. The man managed to be happy. However, happiness is so deep and so intimate experience that no general patterns and reflections cannot bring people closer to understanding this phenomenon. Therefore, for anyone who thinks about happiness, it opens unexplored and eternal newness. This paper describes my understanding of happiness and ways to achieve it.

Happiness is not a feeling that can be tested constantly (Achor, 2010). It is the moment, when man realizes that he/she is happy right now, at this moment. A man cannot be happy in the future or in the past, but only now. In my understanding, happiness is a state that resembles a clear horizon in which there is no need of something to worry about. This is the moment when there are only those parts of life that are just creative and not destructive. For example, I remember when as a child I was given a box of chocolates for no reason. Without a doubt, I was happy at that moment, because the man did it from the heart and of course, I wanted to get chocolate more often.

Undoubtedly, happiness is different for everybody, but in a society, the general scheme of attaining happiness or its components was accepted. It looks like success, self-fulfillment, love, family and career (Haidt, 2006). For me, happiness is when I see that happy are those who are dear to me. True happiness is when I can help others. In addition, the happiness that comes from the sense gratification is temporary and passes quickly.

For example, let us remember the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness.” The main character, Christopher Gardner, gained happiness only when he came out of the office after the got the job. Now he knew that he would be able to pay for housing, feed and clothe his son. That was happiness for him. And I have understood him perfectly, like many others.

First, as a student, I cannot go wrong with the life path. After all, no one has not sought happiness by doing what he/she does not like, and living life the way he/she did not want. Secondly, I need to help the world. But I need to help not just friends, relatives and so on. I need to help the homeless, orphans, the disabled and seriously ill. In short, to give good to the world, because the goodness begets the happiness. Also, I believe that a smile is an important attribute of happiness. After all, if a person is smiling, so he/she is happy. In other words, the poor man would never smile.

As for after graduation from college, I will continue my path to happiness. As I said, for me happiness is a condition in which there is no need of something to worry about. To do this, I need to continue my education, to get a high-paying job and start a family. Happiness is never constant. The man realizes happiness only in one point. And I look forward to those moments when my children will take the first steps, when me and my wife will send them to school, and when one day I wake up in the morning and realize that all what I wanted my whole life is with me now. Then I will understand that I am happy.

Summing up, it should be said, that no one could be happy all the time. But this is all the charm of this feeling. Happiness is suddenly, not permanently and vulnerable. Life is built on the little things, so people need to see happiness in small things and gather it little by little.
