The comparison of the four people in different situation
The comparison and contrast of the four people in different situation
The reasons for every man is different with others are associated with the various experiences of their family condition and social status that are two significant factors in influencing people. This is a conclusion concluded from the two interviews to my friends. I choose four friends come from different countries and culture background to interview. In this paper, I adopted the interview method of face to face to interview four people with different natural and social background and made the proper comparison and contrast to the experiences of a diverse range of individuals.
First and foremost, the first male individual I interviewed is Jack, who comes from Spain and is the white race. He is a sophomore and his major is international technique, but his hobbies and interests are in wide range. His mother tongue is Spanish language, and English is his second language. In daily life, the method of relaxing of him is to do sport such as playing basketball, swimming, and jogging. He has a handsome figure and strong muscle that are the best evidence that he is robust and attractive. The place of the interview we process is on the lawn of the playground, and the atmospheres are comfortable and relax. I prepared five questions for him that is associated with their family background and social status. I prepared a note and a recording pen for my interviews.
“How about your childhood,” I asked, “Do you enjoy it”?
“Yes, absolutely,” He answered, “I spend my childhood time with my younger brother in the downtown of my hometown. My grandparents lived near our house and my brother, and I went to the house of our grandparents every day. My grandfather worked at an aircraft factory in his younger time. My brother and I are both interested in an airplane, and the most anticipated things are to listen to my grandfather telling the stories about the airplanes and fulfilling the models of airplanes. Until my high school, our parents bought a house in the city, and we moved for receiving advantage education. However, we will go back to the downtown to the company my grandparents when we have holidays such as summer and winter vacations.”
“Can you tell me something about your parents, for example, their jobs, the method of they educate to you and your brother.”
“My father and mother both work for a private company. My dad is an architectural engineer and mother is a designer printing house. They do not have very high income, and they are careful with their jobs. They do not buy expensive and fanciful toys to my brother and me. However, my mother booked a kind of magazine which telling the stories about technology such as outer space, the secret of the forest and the scientific phenomena in life. Every week, the magazine my mother booked in the bookstore will be sent to our house. It is the happiest time for me and my brother in memory, and the magazines are our articles of luxury. When my father is having a rest at home, we usually assemble and make something such as a model of car, airplane and dinosaur together. We do not have expensive clothes to wear and food to enjoy, but we have rich time with my parents and grandparents. My brother and I seldom see they quarrel, and they asked us how about our school day and what we have learned in school. They do not have a special method in educating.
“What are your standers about your further wife,” I mean what do you most care about, the education background, the same religion background or the attractiveness?
“The three factors you mentioned are both important for me. I take the education situation into my serious account. Because higher education means she can receive different attitudes and have the ability of good managing marriage and family relationship. I do not deny that higher education can obtain more opportunities to higher income. I think they are necessary for a healthy marriage. The same religion background is the same crucial. I am Christianization, and I still know that different religion hold different attitudes towards some fundamental question about human beings. I cannot image what will happen when we confronted the same issues but have directly different answers. The factor of attractiveness is still significant. The common daily life will be developed in proper method on the basis of we love each other. We can give up or change bad habits for the partner. All the things we do for each other are on the basic of we can attract each other.”
“What is the socioeconomic status of your family at present and what level do you want to be”?
“My family always in the middle class of the socioeconomic status. The incomes of my parents are not so high that we are not worried about our necessities of life. Moreover, we are not poor because we have rich spirit and my parents have the ability to afford a house in the city through the accumulation of many years. All in all, our life becomes better and better. In the further, I would like to become the upper class in the society. I do not mean to enjoy an extravagant life. My brother and I both have the common sense of becoming the leading person in our major scope. The most exciting thing in our lives is to become a person can push the development of the society and provide rich life for our parents in their old time.”
“If you become the upper class of the society in the further, will you bias the others who hold different races and religions, or people in lower class”?
“No, I will not do that and have that kind of attitude. One of the purposes of receiving advanced education is changing a person to see himself in the right and proper way. All the answers to the questions in the world do not have only one correct answer. There is no the best race or religion in the world. We just hold different attitude towards a common thing. Everyone is in equal position and should be respected no matter he or she are in the upper or lower position in the society. They both make their life better through their force just like my parents.”
The second female interviewee in this course is Emily, who comes from China and is the yellow race. She is a freshman and her major is British and American literature, and her hobbies and interests are inclined to reading, writing and painting the activities of peaceful. Her mother tongue is Chinese and English is her skillful second language. In daily life, the method of relaxing of her is to take part in the reading party, photographic exhibition and communicating with her close friends. She is different from Jack that she is not fond of sports and do not have more energy and physical ability. The place of the interview we process is at the ground near the library, and she is not conversable like Jack. I prepared the same five questions for her that is associated with their family background and social status.
“How about your childhood,” I asked, “Do you enjoy it”?
In my memory, my parents often quarry with each other in terms of small things in life such as smoking in the living room, lacking money or the taste of dishes. My mother usually dissatisfied with her father and the temper of her father seems not very well. Also, they did not communicate with each other, so they easily quarry. Finally, my mother cannot bear the life with her father and decided to leave her husband me. After that, I moved to live with my grandmother. My grandmother lives with my uncle, so I spent my childhood with my uncle’s daughter. At that time, I was told that from that on, I must live with my grandmother because my father must go for work to earn money for my education and does not have enough time to take care of me. For the issue of custody, my father insisted on taking care of me and did not give the opportunity to my mother to see me.”
“Can you tell me something about your parents, for example, their jobs, the method of they educate to you.”
“My father is a taxi driver, who works for nearly ten hours per day and my mother is a worker in a factory. After the bankruptcy of the factory, my mother has to search job by her own and employed by a private factory. My parents do not receive higher education and begin to work and get marriage in their younger ages. The methods of education of them are to take responsibility for my education fee and criticize to me for my falling grades. They refused my requirement of learning painting in my primary school because they thought that it did not make an effort to my study. However, you must know that they love me and just do not sensible at that time from my angle at present,” she explained to me.
“What are your standers about your further husband,” I mean what do you most care about, the education background, the same religion background or the attractiveness?
“I take the family situation of him into the significant account. I clearly know how important a complete family to a child. The second factor is the education background. It is the safeguarded of the economy and better-living condition. It does not matter that we are in the same race and religion, the attractiveness between us is more important for a permanent relationship.”
“What is the socioeconomic status of your family at present and what level do you want to be”?
“As you know, my parents do not have higher income and wide social intercourse. They cannot provide me convenience opportunities and promise further. I must achieve my goals through my efforts. Moreover, I am willing to establish a complete and comfortable family and support my child some stages in my range of ability to his further.”
“If you become the upper class of the society in the further, will you bias the others who hold different races and religions, or people in lower class”?
“No, I think it is not a serious problem for you and your mates no matter in the family or work has different race and religion. In China, you are free to be or to choose a social circle that has a religious belief or not. For the people in the lower class, I would like to say that we are the same, my family is in lower class, and I have the potential to change it, so do them.”
Furthermore, the common points of the four people I interviewed are that they receive advanced education in college and admit the significance of the role of receiving advance education in the process of they achieving goals. The four friends I interviewed, Jessica, Mike, Jack, and Emily, they go out to college through their efforts and try their best to learn the knowledge of we are eager to absorb. Education changes their life condition, and they regard the factor of receiving advanced education as a crucial aspect for their partners. Because having higher education has not only more potential of higher income but also have abilities to solve family issues in the proper method and hold correct attitude towards family relationships. Just like Emily, she has an appropriate evaluation to her parents of preventing her to learn painting in her primary school instead of complaining and blame. It is the power of education in changing a person. Another common point of them is they are eager to obtain a higher socioeconomic situation in their further. The third common point of them is that they hold sexual identity accord with their gender, and they both refuse homosexuality. The reason of this is obviously. “The belief that gay men are ‘feminine’ and lesbian are ‘masculine’ is a stereotype that bears little resemblance to reality, as is reflected by the surprise often expressed by parents, friends and acquaintances when a person ‘comes out’”. (Cushner, McClelland, Safford 350) Their families treat the four people as their nature gender, and they grow up in a proper family environment. For example, Jack and his brother grow up with the company of their grandfather. Their mother buys them the technique magazine and their father assembles toys with them together. Their sexual identities were built up in their childhood time.
Last but not least, we can easily conclude the differences of the four individuals I interviewed in the aspects of their socioeconomic background and hind hurdles. Firstly, the family of Jessica and Mike have higher socioeconomic background especially Jessica; their parents have higher income and wide social intercourse which will make efforts in the further child. The difference of Jessica and Mike is that the parents of Mike obtain an advance living condition for him through their force without the help of their fathers. Moreover, the family of Jessica has the tradition of higher socioeconomic background. Secondly, Jessica holds different attitude towards race with other three interviewees. She and her family cannot accept she married a man in another race. This is a kind of bias of her family. “Race is often equated with levels of intelligence and intimately tied to power and political relationships.” (Pang, Ooka 87) If they married, it means they will give birth to babies. If she married a man in the different race, it means their babies are not a pure white race.
It is time to make a conclusion. The interviews with the four people inspire me a lot and encourage me to obtain my goals through my power. I could not more admit the method of the parents of Jack. They use their actions to educate their child and mother and father both play their roles in the family. During the conversation with Jack, his eyes contact is firm, reasonable and intelligent. He has a clear plan for his further and know what should do and should do best. The differences between individuals not only depend on what kind of a family given by their parents but also root in the social relation they live in.
