Class Reflection and Self-Evaluation

Nowadays, as a college student, we should contribute to the development of students’ self-evaluation and class reflection ability. In this journal, I would like to share my reflect on my experience in this class.

First of all, before I took this class, writing only means tasks for me. The quantity of each essay was the most important thing I cared about because it is the first demand for teachers to decide my grades. However, I never considered the quality of my essays, since writing is not my strength. In other words, I did not like writing, and I did not know how to create excellent works. However, after I finished this class, I have learned a lot. I realized that quantity is not the most important. The center part of writing is the special and correct selection of your theme, which determined your interest and attention you are willing to pay for your work. Since you have no choice but finish your task, choose one theme that you like. If the theme is unfortunately and strictly decided by your teacher, try to find a view of your interest. After all, there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. The right selection of your theme can help you well explained your idea, which lead writing to a relaxing thing that tell others what you insist and suggest. Frequently, you would like to fall in love with writing with meaningful and original context. Which rapidly improved the quantity and quality of your writing. Among all of this assignment, the most helpful one is CPR. Because CPR is the best writing program that I didn't even know it existed. I can read others’ rough drafts and get three feedbacks by the people who were writing the same topic as I do. That is the most amazing experience I have ever had in learning writing. What’s more, as a student who begin learning writing from the very beginning, all of the assignments are helpful for me. Among all of these essays, my favorite one is “Keeping close to home”. Because I have been a student for over 20 years, I have a lot of feelings to write. Also the essay “Keeping close to home” is related to my daily life as well. So, it is not only a task for me but also a good chance to state my complex and specific feeling about keeping close to home. As for the least favorite essay, I choose the last one who asked me to do some research and write about economy and technology, just as I said, interest is a very important part when you begin writing an essay. However, economy and technology is not one of my hundreds of interest. So, it is a little bit difficult for me to find any interesting view of economy and technology, which will make my essay insufficient in both of quantity and quality. After the assignments I have finished, after I had made great efforts, I think I did a good job in the process of learning writing. My essays are never boring but with abundant and special ideas of mine. However, I would like to know more skills of writing. It would be better if we have a conclusive class that especially aim at writing skills, including rhetoric, structure and so on, which can help me do better in my essays. At last, I am grateful and want to thank my teacher for her teaching sincerely in patience, the class does meet my expectation.
